There is a reason people like mac's motion.
great stuff!
Perfect angled hinge (righty)
Nice horizontal hinge (lefty)
absoutely wonderful both arms straight position (righty).
Notice the SOUND of impact
Ed Z,
It is good stuff...Imagine what it was like when it was "sharpened" when he was healthy and competing as oppossed to injured and tinkering?
Man it was awesome to watch him PLAY(I watched him a few times when I was working with Clearwater)...He played different from anyone I've ever seen...Even though he didn't score well...He played like Picasso or Michaelangelo...But a few sloppy "strokes" with the "brush" made his artwork go unappreciated....
It doesn't take much to turn a 65 into 75...as we all know!!!

Clearwater had/has one of my personal favorite motions. Very 'clean'. No wasted motion, a lot like Purtzer, just not as smooth tempo/transition.
I've only see a few clips of mac in motion, and many stills (was in '85 or so that one of the mags did a sequence?). If anyone has clips of mac during his 'prime' I'd love to see them. These are a real treat. Thanks for posting them.
Lookin Down The Radius!!
A lot of the Book can be explained here!!!!
Enjoy!
Great Picture !
Mathew,
I have more...But this picture shows so much of the BOOK
Clubhead Lag
Flat left Wrist
Right Forearm Angle of Approach
Shoulders
Hips
Knees
Feet
etc....
Do you think people are scared to look at O'Grady...Or do they just don't want to see anything but what they're "trained" to see...I know his set-up is unorthodox.. So wasn't Moe Norman....two of the BEST were NOT orthodox in set-up...BUT in-swing ...SHOW me 2 Better that are still LIVING !!!

People are generally scared of things they do not understand. Thats one of the reasons why TGM has been out of the golfing publics eyes for so long. The golfing machine shows why their stroke functions the way it does and what compensations must result...... like Homer said (paraphrasing) "there is no need to discuss patterns as better or worse as there are many precision patterns except on the basis of ideal mechanical advantage"....
Great quote Matt...haven't heard that one...
...better patterns only on the basis of ideal mechanical advantage...
I like it. Co-incides with TGM being all about OPTIONS.

Looked it up - I found it in 1-H misc notes....4th paragraph
"There is no effort to classify any Stroke Pattern as best or worst, except on the basis of Mechanical Advantage."
MORAD believe or not was all about options too...GREAT STUFF MATHEW...Keep it coming...enjoying the dialogue....I've been "binging" on this forum and Manzella's... soon ...I'll be going away......NO MORE POSTs!!!!!...BUT I'll always be..............

Perhaps you could write a short piece or description on what MORAD actually is..... I believe it is just stroke patterns from TGM but may be wrong.....
Is it true lead-yourstrokeupandnotforthe-better based his "method" on Mac also...
MORAD,
IS simply knowing how to adjust the Golfing Machine and Human Machine for different ball flight patterns...For instance the Waist Bend and Axis tilts are different for Draws...Fades..Highs..and Lows...Everything is "Quantifiable" ...whereas the Golfing Machine is more "conceptual"
For instance ...What would be the proper degree of Waist Bend and Axis Tilt at Impact for a High Draw...Med Straight....Low-Cut...30 Degrees, 20 degrees, 15 degrees???
How Much?
...TGM doesn't give it to you because it IS "Adjustable" depending your Plane Angle and it's Plane Angle Variations...and per 7-2
The real science community wants "Quantifiable DATA"...NOT THEORY...
NOW, I LOVE TGM...BUT THERE IS NO COMPARISON OF THE TWO!!!
As you beautifully stated...NOT BETTER...Just classified as different
Mac is all about the science of classification...That's MORAD to "T"
Skywalker
Are you NAT on Brian's board?
Yeah...more like "GNAT" the bug!
For instance ...What would be the proper degree of Waist Bend and Axis Tilt at Impact for a High Draw...Med Straight....Low-Cut...30 Degrees, 20 degrees, 15 degrees???
The most useful relationships as Homer said though is those that are definable - flat, centered, on plane ...etc
I don't like degrees and neither did Homer....
Is MORAD a book ? or is it just what mac teaches ?
It's a classification system....
It's unfortunate you don't like degrees ...I'm working on my Masters and eventually my Doctorates....
Someday you'll appreciate them...You're a smart guy Mathew...I'm getting tired of POSTING!!!!
See you!!!

See you!!!
Did you learn your way of talking people off Mac too....
Maybe Mac wasn't the culprit in you not learning from him anymore....
Mathew,
I believe you took the"degrees' comment out of context...I meant for you to appreciate the difference between someone who has 20 degrees of axis tilt( like Mac) versus 40 degrees of axis tilt(like Cary Middlecoff) ...that's all just apprecition for the differences in a quantifiable way!
Obviously because you don't know me nor I you... you do not understand my sarcasm!!!
I'm sorry if you were insulted...
I apologize...
Yeah...I probalby was the culprit...
Always have had respect for you and your work...will continue to do so!!!
You wanted to know about MORAD...so I shared with you...that's called"GIVING"
MORAD is MAC"S System of Classifying the movements of the body and golf strokes for the various ball flights....He has written books ...BUT they will probably never be published...I hope this answers your question.
Sorry for the misunderstanding and the mistake on my part!
Good Luck!
