Jim McLean

Its been a long time since I played the DVD "Ben Hogan - The Golf Swing" by and with Jim McLean. I am sure I haven't looked at it since I took interest in TGM. I was surprised that he is using so many TGM-influenced comments in his analysis.

Early on in the video he starts his mentioning of instructors who have focused on Hogan in their teaching by showing the cover of "The Golfing Machine", and says "One was Homer Kelley and who wrote The GOlfing Machine and worked extensively with Mac O'Grady". Then he goes on to mention 12 others.

Jim McLean is seldom discussed in the TGM world. Anyone know more about his thoughts of Kelley and TGM?

Jim McLean is seldom discussed in the TGM world. Anyone know more about his thoughts of Kelley and TGM?

McLean has some kind of connection to Seattle (Did he grow up there? Did he start teaching there?). Chuck told me, but I forgot.

Earlier this week I happened to have The Golf Channel on and Jim McLean was on Academy Live (for the millionth time). Before I changed channels I heard him say that the arms should NOT hang straight down at address but should be extended just a little away from the body. He demonstrated with his driver and pointed out that because his arms were a little extended that his right forearm was pretty much in line with the shaft of the club. He then said that this made it easier to take the club back on plane! I think I have heard this somewhere before....
