How deep are y'alls divots? Whispy? Bacon Stips? Poke Chops? Thick burgers?

I prefer "poke chops." I take some down, with a side of down, and a little down on the side. Remember, the hitter's goal is to shake the axis of the earth.

I see what you are saying as evidenced from your Avatar thingie or whatever you call that picture. Looks like a big beaver pelt flyin' up from the ground. Better watch out for enviromentalists beatin' on your mother earth like that. . . them people are Communists and Socialists.

Do you take the same kind of chunks with a long iron too?

I think our super's not pleased with the depth and volume of my divots.

Nope, the ball position is much closer to low point with the long irons. Even with a driver, I take an air divot.

What's a 'poke chop'?? I've heard of and am very fond of Pork Chops though
With the way my game is going at the moment, I think I am taking Hamburger sized divots

The Poke Chop

A Poke Chop is a much improved, less refined, but much more dynamic version of the Pork Chop . . . typically breaded and fried slapped on some white bread or biscuit. It can be smothered with white gravy. There are other versions que'd blackened etc.

If you can get collard greens with your chop then odds are that you are eating a Poke Chop and not a Pork Chop. If your mama used to lick her finger to wipe stuff off your face, you've probably had a Poke Chop. If your mama washed your passie when it fell on the floor then odds are you ain't.

Here's my thoughts with 2-C-1 and 2-C-2 in mind. Just a little yellow book mental exercise...

A Swinger set up for a straight away ball flight will impact the ground prior to low point with an in to out clubhead path. As the club travels down to low point cutting the turf less than half a ball's width to the outside from the original lie position of the ball on top of the ground.

The first part of the divot is slightly right of the target line with a square clubface. The clubface impacted the ball slightly open and by the time the club is digging in the ground, it has squared. As the club exits low point and begins it's journey up and in, it travels back half a ball or less until it exits the ground, with the clubface slightly closed and back up to the orginal target line.

So there is a very slight inward C shape but it is nearly imperceptable from a straight line divot. You would have to look very closely to see any curve of the divot, but it should be there. If you have the right kind of turf, pick up the beaver pelt and examine the shape. The pelt would have a curved bias but otherwise look straight.

A hitter's divot will have a similar shape because the geometry of impact is the same as swinging. But the path of the divot should be slightly right of the target line. Again almost imperceptible from a straight line but slightly right and less of an inward curve.

Probably not measurable unless you had a special kind of turf that precisely showed the clubhead entry and exit for each kind of stroke. Say, like...this ones for you Bucket...Cheeze Wiz turf.
