well not exactly "exploding"...
I ordered a mixed bunch of cheap practice balls from ebay and wanted to try a couple different balls on the course. It was about 40 degrees this morning, so I got out to play 9 holes. During the round 2 dunlop loco balls broke in half on my drive!, and I wasn't hitting either particularly hard. There was nothing visually wrong with either ball; in fact they looked new. Anybody else experience this w/ dunlop locos or any other balls? I thought maybe it was the temperature, but 40 degrees isn't all that cold. very weird!

I found one at a golf coarse while playing in a scramble a few months ago. I figured I would hit it off the tee and then switch balls for the approach. It split after about 7 holes. Of coarse I told everyone it was because I was hitting it so hard and far. I guess you just deflated my ego.

Never buy used balls. They have bad habits about getting lost.
I always thought a New PRO V 1 had the greatest affinity towards water and the woods.

Stopped playing Callaway HX Tour ball as they kept cracking
Gone back to pro V1 X just lose them in the trees now

The new HX.Tour and the HX.56 (notice the dots) should of fixed the durability problems that the old ball had according to a few people that I know.
But in saying that I will still lose them in the trees and water but at least they will look better
