First Post-How do you know?

This is post #1. I am a decent golfer (+0.3 hdcp), but am VERY new to TGM. I'm not really sure where to start so I have been jumping around on the different threads. The first question that comes to mind is...how do you know if your a hitter or a swinger? Is this an okay place to start? Please advise.
Very cool first post.

Do you have the book to reference?

First off, how much of an active right arm to you use?

Thanks and welcome!,

Bagger
I used to have the book, but lost it in the great flood of my basement 3 yrs ago. I should have a new copy by next weekend. I would say in my normal everyday swing, I don't have an active right arm. In fact, if I have a fault, it is NOT ever letting the clubhead pass the hands thru impact. Thus (thus?), the clubface points right of the target resulting in a lot of pushes.

Hands always lead, from putter to driver. You might be arching which could lead to the tendencay of a push shot.

Also, sounds like you're a swinger. At the core:

if you pull, you're swinging
if you push, you're hitting
By arching, you mean the left wrist? The wrist is too high?
If you arch your wrist meaning that the wrist bone is now in front of your hand it will lead to push shots. That may not be your problem, but it is a possibility

Welcome aboard, exgolfpro. Thanks for joining our little Swamp Party! I must warn you: You can get hooked -- bad choice of words there! -- on this stuff pretty quick, so if you haven't already bought the book, I'd recommend you do so ASAP. Then hold onto your hat...You will never look at golf the same way again!
Thanks for the invite. I have been on 4gea for a year or 2 and always enjoy what you and others have said about TGM. I've visited this site a little in the past few weeks and as I get more comfortable with the terminology, plan on being here more often. Thanks again.
You're likely to be a "swinger", if you can comfortably swing a rope with a driver headcover tied to the opposite end across a flat plane.

Welcome to the journey of a lifetime! We're glad you're here.
