Slow Site

Our internet service provider is experiencing some network latency issues and are working on finding and fixing the problem. If you don't know what network latency is, picture Charles Barkley's downswing....that hitch in the middle = latency

Here's the note from our provider:

"We apologize for the inconvenience. There seems to be a slowdown in our network which is causing some latency issues. You may see some intermitent issues while we continue to isolate the problem."
I'm getting this "urgency" feeling. If you don't speed this up soon, I'll need medication.
It's about 5 on the stimpmeter at the moment. We need to get it back up to 11 at least. Lets get mowing!
I am experiencing latency. I thought it was just me.

When I need a fix, I go the the saved pdf's of Yoda's archieves!
Never again tell the ISP to 'sustain the lag'.
Thanks for the feedback Lee.

We think we found some "throw away" on our server and it seems to be sustaining the line of compression much better.

The forum software was upgraded yesterday to the latest release along with some of our feature plug-ins. We turned off some suspected "high overhead" features and are keeping an eye on things.

We are going to run a few tests over the next couple of weeks to see if we can fine tune a little bit. If performance starts to degrade again, we will have some certainty that it's not related to our server configuration, but the provider network. Hopefully this will give Bambam an opportunity to complete his finish swivel. It's looking very, very good.

It's faster from this neck of the woods.
Much, much, better today
Gets over here now faster than Concorde.
These guys are so good.

Bagger.

Bambam.

Trig.

And we -- you and me! -- are so lucky!

If the problem is solved, it's hats off to Bambam. While I was jetting around Europe he was the guy on the keyboard get'in er done.
Speaking of jetting around, nice to have you back in the swamp Yoda! Get caught up and then pack those bags for Barclays!

Thanks, Bagger. Don't want to threadjack here, but it's good to be back. Just spent four days in Las Vegas doing a private clinic -- tough work, but somebody had to do it! -- and it's 'wheels up' for our Barclays Classic Golf Academy on Tuesday. Ted and I will be there through Sunday, but look for us to check in from time-to-time. We love this place!
Bagger,

Slower today than it has been the last few days. TH 6/8 10:00am CA

Definitely very slow....

Yep, very slow here earlier on in the day. I couldn't get to certain pages. But it seems to be ok right now.

We're working on it.

We have upgraded nearly every application. Today we brought the SQL database up to the latest rev.

We are still investigating everything. You wouldn't believe all the gears, knobs, pulleys, duct tape and bailing wire that are a part of a web site.

Keep the reports coming.

Thanks,

Bagger
What in the name of creation is going on this evening?

Every time I hit the "back" button to revert from a thread I have been reading to the "search results" page I get a message saying that my connection to the server has been reset whilst the page was loading. Huh?
are other sites giving you problems, too?

What did you search on so I can try it. Thanks
Going to the Home page isn't or hasn't been an issue but going the forum, to threads, recent posts, etc. has been challenging to say the least.

SQL seems not to be playing nice. Dump the logs?

Good Luck

Hope it passes, this has got to be time consuming.

Nothing in the logs that indicate a sql problem. I'm going to be doing some more performance profiling tonight.

I am using Firefox and don't have any problems elsewhere.

No worries this evening though, speed is v. acceptable and no server "resetting" problems.
