Received the 7th Edition Today

Received the 7th Edition today....

Hmmm...Swinging Stroke Pattern has changed:

Shoulder turn went from A to C Rotated
Hip Turn went from A to B Slide
Power Package Loading went from Snap to Random Sweep
Power Package Release went from B to E Auto Sweep

Well there is an error...if the Power Package Release is "E" it should be Auto Snap not Sweep.

DG
Same here.
"Shoulder turn went from A to C Rotated"

Very interesting...as I know several instructors that have been preferring the Rotated variation instead of the Flat Backstroke/On-Plane Downstroke (which is A).

Yoda has always been a big proponent of an 'as flat as possible backstroke shoulder turn'. I would be curious to hear what he thinks of this change.

Just from a pure visual perspective, the picture in 10-13-C #2 (Rotated Top) does look more orthodox than 10-13-B #2 (Flat Top).

Another interesting comment in my 6th edition about the Rotated Shoulder Turn Downstroke: "Downstroke use is normally confined to the shiftless Hip Turn".

7th Addition Questions:

My first question will be "How do I locate a Turned Shoulder Plane with a Rotated Shoulder Turn"?

My second question is "Hey, doesn't the picture 10-14-B #1 Top and 10-14-B #2 Finish remind you of Teds' reverse pivot video?

Hey David...

Maybe you should drop ol' Joe Daniels a line at the head office and let him know of the boo boo. Haha...

6-B-3-0

Second Paragraph: Should the third sentence be "Drive-Out" not "Throwout" as changed?

Shoulder turn went from A to C Rotated
Shoulder turn now more orthodox backstroke (90 degrees to spine) and "C" variant still allows on-plane downstroke. This seems sensible.

Hip Turn went from A to B Slide
Hip turn with slide... well 6th edition says it goes well with line delivery path... which fits well with auto snap release.(now in 7th edition as standard release - if typo above E = snap)

Power Package Loading went from Snap to Random Sweep
Snap Loading is rare nowadays - most do random sweep nowadays - so not much controversy here.

Power Package Release went from B to E Auto Sweep (presume mean "snap")
Well we all want to look and swing like Hogan...

It makes sense to have these changes. Imagine if you were not aware of TGM and picked up 7th edition... these would not appear too alien...although made in 1982, these changes are a 21st century swinging pattern! Homer ahead of his time again!!!

My only irritation is the mention of "zero axis shift" ( i am waiting for my copy but presume it is still there as this thread does not document its change). I do not wish to thread jack so if people want to discuss this then i will start another thread... it seemed like "the holy Grail" but in my experience it is impossible ( for me and similar anatomical variants = humanish!!) to implement with level wrist and TSP.
Keep the changes coming. Planning to highlight them once I get my copy. I expect it this week (I did preorder it a few months back).

Keep em coming.
Interesting changes to 2-K regarding the endless belt and 7-23.

Great minds think alike

I still think it needs more clarity regarding the relationship to 1-L-15 and the center of motion and balance. Especially considering the change to the 'pivot tripod center' references now included. Reminds me of a thread Martee had a while back on the topic.

I've only had a little skim over so far, but some good changes.
Just got mine...wife will definitley divorce me..need to convince her to go away for the weekend with the kids...I'll be puking yellow by Sunday!!!
