FBR Open / PGA TOUR / January 31-February 3, 2008

Brian Gay today shot a 5-under par 66 and is one shot off the lead. Check it out at http://www.pgatour.com/2008/tourname...gay/index.html.

Jay Williamson brought it home with a fine 2-under par 69 and is currently T34.

With most of the field in, Round 1 play has been suspended due to darkness and will resume tomorrow at 7:40 a.m. local time.

Keep it going, guys!

Great Round. The course played tougher than usual and Brian came through with some great crucial shots.
Ah, the life of the PGA TOUR pro! Just wake up every day in resort locations, head out to a fabulous golf course, then exercise your God-given talent and shoot 3 or 4 or more under par.

R-i-g-h-t . . .

Look at Brian Gay's card today:

A birdie at the first. Then bogies at 6 and 7. Back at'cha birdies at 8 and 9. A par. Then disaster at 11 -- a triple. Ugh . . . all that hard work gone!

But you can't quit, no matter how easy it would be. Instead, you dig deep.

Par at 12, then birdie, birdie -- take that! -- on 13 and 14.

Pars in and you have 71 . . .

A not-so-even par round filled with more 'gut checks' than you can imagine.

This is what it takes to make it on the PGA TOUR.

This is what you have to do:

Play good . . .

When you're playin' bad.

That is what Brian Gay had to do today.

And that is exactly what he did.

Congrats to Jay Williamson on his fine round of 68 today. His two-day total of 137, 5-under, is T21.

That tie, incidentally, is 14-way.

One slip, and fifty guys run over you.

The PGA TOUR . . .

Land of the Meateaters.
Brian Gay is in today with a 2-under par 69 for a total of 207 and T23.

Jay Williamson was 1-over at 72 and a total of 209, T44.

There will be a long line at the pay window tomorrow.

Step ahead, guys!
