THE PLAYERS Championship / PGA TOUR / May 8-11, 2008

Brian Gay got off to a solid start today shooting an even par 72 and is T36. There's a lot of golf to be played on a really tough course, so this should be fun to watch!

Good luck, Brian!

Brian shot 74 today, and with the projected cut at +2, he is now 'on the bubble'. He made birdie on his last hole of the day (the 9th) to have a chance to play the weekend. Hopefully, the cut line won't move down this afternoon.
Considering that only two scores were under 70 today, that 74 was pretty solid.
Brian Gay is there at +2. So is Greg Kraft at +3.

Congratulations to these great players.

They really are THE BEST.

Greg Kraft made a nice move up the boards today.

Right you are, Bagger.

Greg Kraft shot a 4-under-par 68 today in the PGA TOUR's '5th Major'. He is now -1 for the tournament and T7 going into tomorrow's final round.

Brian Gay did not fare so well, shooting 75. He is now +5 for the tournament and T47.
Even T47 at +5 he's ahead of some big names.
At $9.5 million, THE PLAYERS Championship is the PGA TOUR's richest event of the year. Congratulations to Greg Kraft (T10 / $218,500) and Brian Gay (T32 / $48,260) on their fine performances in very difficult conditions.

The tournament featured arguably the strongest field in golf. From the TOUR's website:
In reference to the strength of field, even without the presence of No. 1 Tiger Woods, who is sidelined after undergoing knee surgery, this week's field of 144 players features 101 who have won at least one TOUR title -- more than any other tournament in the last five years -- and 24 major champions. The field also includes 55 international players from 16 countries, which gives the tournament even wider global appeal.
