Tiger is done for 2008

Tiger Woods will be having surgery on his left knee to repair stress fractures and will be out for the rest of 2008. Also the report mentioned he needs ACL surgery as well but not sure whether this is being done now. Really a blow for him and the PGA Tour.
Just read the ACL is being done now and the stress fractures were caused during this most recent rehab prior to the US Open. Hope he listens to his doctor now and realizes that his rehab is as important as the surgery.
no Ryder Cup, no Open, no USPGA, no Fedex Cup!!!

Wow, it'll be interesting to see who can step up to the plate now. You gotta question the wisdom of playing last week. Yes, he won th etournament but at what cost? If he's looking at a 6-8 month lay off, can he come back better?
Better and hungrier!
He's now got Ben Hogan on his check list. Most majors after a major injury/surgery. I hope he gets better. Maybe he'll start using that silky smooth swing which hit the ball a mile and with accuracy. Example, his drive on the 4th hole of the Black course, US open, Sunday, June 2002, approx 320 yards.

I agree the rest of the season seems lackluster without Tiger, in it. Wouldn't bet against him coming back as good if not better.

He has elevated the way the game is played on tour nad influenced the participation in the game in ways we cannot fully appreciate at this time. Almost singlhandedly, he has influenced youths to take up the game. If he did not come along the golf car (which has killed caddie programs), our sport would likely be suffering a sharp decline.

Tiger you will be missed. Speedy recovery. Get Well Soon!
I read this article about it yesterday and wanted to share it:

"'Knee detective' says Tiger's injury is not career-threatening, but are we getting the whole story?" http://www.golf.com/golf/tours_news/...815787,00.html

Certainly an intriguing point of view!
