AT&T National / PGA TOUR / July 3-6, 2008

Brian Gay opened today's first round with a bogey on his first hole, the 10th. He followed that with a double bogey. So, +3 after two. Not a great start.

What to do? Stop the bleeding, then claw your way back!

Par - par - birdie - birdie. Back to +1.

A par, then -- bam! -- another double. Agghhh!

What to do . . . give up?

Never!

Birdie!

First nine: 37 (+2).

Second nine: 35 (Even, with one birdie, one bogey).

For the day: 72 (+2 and T69)

Tomorrow, the cut will be to the low 70 and ties.

And it will be another day on the PGA TOUR . . .

Land of the Meateaters.

Brian Gay had it one-under through 13 today, bringing him to +1 for the tournament. With the projected cut at +2, things were looking good. Unfortunately, bogies on 14 and 15 and a closing double on 18 resulted in a disappointing 73 and a free weekend.

Next up: the John Deere Classic at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Illinois.
