Scott Gummer emailed me earlier this year and asked permission for an interview for his upcoming book. Before I agreed, I questioned him at length to determine that he was a legitmate author; that he was totally independent of The Golfing Machine, LLC; and that he had not been commissioned by them or an outside party to write the book.

After satisfying myself that these conditions were in place, I consented to the interview, which we did by telephone. There were also several email exchanges, and I directed him to certain relevant places on our site, including the Homer Kelley photographs that I took and have posted. He told me at that time that my participation will be credited in his book.

I just want him to get it right.

I am happy to know this! I had already started to turn my nose up at it! Yoda, may I inquire as to the basic thesis of the book? Is it biographical etc.? Is it appropriate to inquire what your contribution was?

The post count is cumulative, powerdraw. I now only need two more --make that one more after this one! -- to breech the 7,000 mark.

Hello,

My name is Scott Gummer, and I am the author of the new book Homer Kelley's Golfing Machine: The Curious Quest that Solved Golf.

I appreciate the passion for Homer and his lifework, and I feel fortunate to have enjoyed the first and exclusive access to his artifacts and archives.

Thank you kindly to Lynn for the time and insights he offered.

The book has been well received. The New York Times wrote, "It is most worthy as an engaging and warm story of a simple but complex man obsessed with the simplicities and complexities of golf. Read the book and see for yourself. It is a tale that at least adds a charming piece to the puzzle."

It is not Golfing Machine for Dummies. It is the untold story of golf's most underappreciated genius.

Please visit www.HomerGolf.com to learn more, read an excerpt, link to retailers, order signed copies, etc.

Trying to find time to be engaged in the forums, but if you have questions please e-mail me on scottgummer@gmail.com

Like Homer said, all we need is a little definitive information.
Hello Scott, I heard your interview on Monday on KNBR680 with Bob Fitzgerald, and you got me interested in the book as well as the TGM book.

Also, thanks Lynn for this great site... If I decide to jump into G.O.L.F., it is great to know there is this resource to clarify any questions I may have.
TheWoat,

May I offer an unofficial welcome to the BEST GOLF/G.O.L.F site! You are in for a treat!
Thanks okie, I was up all night watching the free videos (lesson with Collin Neeman, and "This is the Golfing Machine")... awesome.

I signed up for this site last year but I wasnt willing to get past the terminology. After hearing about the book on H. Kelly's life, and seeing Brian Gay kick arse, I gave TGM a serious look and attention... From what I have seen so far, it makes a ton sense...
Great read, interesting story and a fascinating look into the unusual life of Homer Kelley. (No insane cross referencing or strange capitalizations. Green cover not yellow.)
