Yoda At the 2011 PGA Teaching and Coaching Summit

Here's something I'm pleased to announce . . .

From Joseph Hallett and the PGA of America:
"Distinguished Presenter, on behalf of the PGA Center for Learning & Performance, and the PGA Instruction Committee, I would like formally to invite you to be a presenter at the 2011 PGA Teaching & Coaching Summit; to be held at The Faldo Institute on January 24th and 25th, 2011 (located in Orlando, Florida). Based upon our prior discussion, your talents and abilities were recognized by the Committee and your peers as being vital to share with PGA professionals for the advancement of our Association's instructors."

I got the call, but couldn't believe it.

There are 28,000 members of the PGA of America.

There will be 27 'presenters' at The Summit.

Whoa.

This biannual Summit immediately precedes the PGA Merchandise Show, the third largest trade event in the country. http://www.pga.com/merchandise/2010/index.cfm

Michael Breed
of The Golf Channel will kick things off as Master of Ceremonies at 8 AM.

Sir Nick Faldo goes at 8:10.

I go at 9:20 (for 45 minutes, including Q&A).

Then again at 11 AM (in a 45-minute breakout session).

My chosen topic?

Alignments Are Forever!

I'll also participate Thursday, January 27, in the USA Today Golf Tips Hotline and Video Lessons sponsored by the PGA.

All this is a very big deal, and I'm proud to be part of it.

When I boarded that airplane to see Homer Kelley in Seattle in January 1982, then penned my first post in these threads just seven years ago . . .

Who'da thunk it?

P.S. Thanks Bagger, Bambam and Trig. Without you, no way this could have happened!
Since I'm on the West Coast...let me be the first this evening to congratulate you on such a distinguished honor...we're very happy for you and proud to be a part of LBG

HG
Congratulations Yoda,

Someone should congratulate the comittee too. For picking you.

Homer probably would have been very pleased and also a bit surprised had he lived to see you appear on stage as one of TGM's foremost ambassadors - and with quite some impact too.

I hope you will share the manuscript with us after you've sustained the lag pressure for 2 x 45 minutes.
Well deserved.
A great and exciting opportunity - Congrats Lynn! Are you having fun yet?!!
Congratulations my friend! Well deserved.

Normally, it takes 20 years in a chosen field to be recognized as an "overnight success!"

Congratulations everyone!

The PGA routinely tapes these sessions and makes the video available to its membership at an affordable price. I've signed a 'media release' to allow my presentation to be recorded and used for that purpose. I don't know what rights I would have to make the video available on this site but will find out when the time comes. Thanks for your interest!

This will be a special presentation to have and study. It will be worth the price.
Congrats to Lynn. Since the inception of the PGA Teaching and Coaching back in 1988 there have been many talented speakers and teachers about all aspects of the game from physical to mental and skill building to you name it. Some you could take away a bit and a piece here and there....go back home and incorporate what you learned into your teaching style, ideas and concepts. But I can assure you that there has never been anyone more enthusiastic as Lynn is about his passion of helping others and giving them the power to help themselves. Now let's top that off by saying that there have been few in the history of teaching that can give the story of the golf swing In such a precise and accurate way. The number would be single digits and the time period that I would look at would be over the last 100 years. Lynn is a great teacher and this appearance at the
T & C Summit is just a step along the path. One deserved and one that will influence others that are in attendance.
Rick Murphy, PGA Professional
Congrats Lynn.

Sadly, I won't be able to see it live so I'll look forward to the video.

Congrats Yoda,
You have a great forum and I am glad you got a recognition you deserve.
Have a happy holiday season everyone!
Thanks, guys. Flag me down at the Show if you see me. I'll be there the 27th and 28th and want to meet each of you personally. In fact, send me your phone number, and I'll make it a priority to connect.

Congratulations from all of us down under. Knock them inspired.
I was onsite for the 2011 PGA Teaching & Coaching Summit this past week in Orlando, Florida. Was front and center for Yoda's appearance at 9:00 AM on Monday morning. I can say that he was really excited but calm just before going on the center stage. Once introduced and out there...well...he was at home! He was doing what he does best...helping PGA Professionals and others understand the importance of ALIGNMENTS. The title of his presentation was "Alignments Are Forever". He was on his "A" game from start to finish. Comments I heard after his presentation from others were..."he made it sound so simple"...."I can use his presentation with all my students when I get back home"..."where is Lynn Blake from"..."this guy knows"..."he was the best I have heard at the summit"....and "I wish I could have seen Lynn give live lessons". Lynn went from the center stage after his presentation over to a breakout session area near a practice green with an audience of 200 or more watching as he explained the importance of alignments and how to put them into practice. Needless to say...Yoda was well received!

Lou Holtz was on hand later that day with a presentation on life and motivation. However...and not planned...Lynn was asked to give Holtz a live lesson on the main stage before Holtz spoke. Stands were packed as we watched Yoda work with Holtz for about 20 minutes.

On another note...all should see up on the website soon...the Alignment Golf Seminar upcoming in Greensboro, NC on March 9th and 10th. Lynn Blake Associate Certification can be obtained by your attendance. Hope to see you in Greensboro!

Thanks Rick

That sure puts some "up close and in person" perspective on things. Glad to hear that Yoda is getting the information into the Hands of other people. Doesn't surprise me one bit but glad to hear it.

All the best.
It is great to hear from someone who was there. It was especially good to hear how others responded to Lynn's talk. His work with Lou Holtz would be great to see. Who else who was there could give us feed back
Thanks for thee update on Lynn's successful presentation, Rick.

Also, Lou Holtz is a person that I hold in high regard. I give my kids a quick speech every morning before they go to school that I heard Lou Holtz give many years ago. "If you want to be successful in life remember these three things: do what is right, do your best, and treat others the way you want to be treated."
Here are some photos of Lynn at the PGA Summit.
