I hadn't had the chance to beat any balls lately. So I headed up to the local range. I'm always having interesting discussions with the guy that owns the joint. He's a great guy. Basically full of crap and has a theory/opinion on everything under the sun from politics to grub to golf.
Everytime I go there he sees the need to give me a "lesson." Typically I just play the interested fool and let him do his thing.
Well I start hitting some shots with my right hand only working on the RFFW. He comes over and says, "What the hell are you doing?" I didn't want to get into the whole "well there's this yellow book thing." So I'm just like "uh heck if I know."
He starts his stuff and it gets pretty interesting. He starts in "Man you gotta forget about that clubhead. If your hands are in the right place the club has to be right. You look like your trying to punch the ball (which I was). You gotta just pretend that the club is wacked off at the grip. Then you just use that grip like a magic marker. Draw that line! You gotta let those forarms rolling man. That's how the pro's do it. You gotta get that snap in there."
Then he starts hitting his same old balloon cut. Can't hit it a lick but he was sure on to some things today. A little Tracing, Snap Release, No. 3 Pressure Point, No. 3 Accumulator, Straight Plane Line etc. He was on the right track. But then he demonstrated the most prefect example of Throwaway you've ever seen.
Oh well.
Fool!
....he sure got some wrist action himself
The guy next to me at the range has a mixed set of beatup knockoff clubs. His setup is incredibly close to IF. Left grip in his fingers, right grip through the trigger finger up through the palm fissure. He takes the club to the turned shoulder, as he turns his wrists. Drives right down at the ball and rolls. Ball takes off at 160 mph for 100 yds, then turns hard left or right for another 100+ yds..... 90 out of 100 balls.
) but I'll leave 'em alone if they don't seem interested. Not everyone wants to hear about the Golfing Machine...if they only knew tho eh...
