Reinvigorated

So I was at the course for the first time in a few weeks the other day and on the 1st tee decided to give Hitting a go. Now I know even less on Hitting than Swinging, so was ready for a good laugh at my own expense.

For me, with my VERY limited knowledge, Hitting boiled down to; hands at fix, no startup swivel, stop at the Top, slide as usual, don’t turn the hips or shoulders as much and then fire the right arm down and out Hard, feeling it on the left thumb. I know there are many components that I will need to work on if I continue hitting, but whatever I was doing, it worked Hit an awful lot of straight shots, and it's the first time I have ever hit fades that felt powerful. Played the front -1 and hit 11 of the first 12 greens in reg.

I was a half club shorter, but even if that didn’t change with time and knowledge I wouldn't care, it felt so easy to Hit straight... and for me the felling of Hitting an iron sweet beats swinging no problems, not to mention the extra spin

Believe it or not, what you described (imo) is good enough to be successful at hitting. Just remember to pre-turn your hips and possibly close your stance a tad.

It's midnight here and I've been reading threads concerned with hitting as well as watching Yoda and YodasLuke (found a face on!) demonstrate for the last 2 hours Pre-turned hips and stance line are among the many things I will have to try out soon, the first of which will be closing the face at fix. The fade is still a novelty to me, and one that I thoroughly enjoyed, but a straight ball flight will always have a place in my bag.

Was shocked by the results the other day. I could count on my hands the number of times I had attempted to Hit before then. Will hopefully have a game in the next few days, must remember to take my sand bucket

This same thing happened to me last weekend! Had my first full 18 scheduled for Saturday morning, so I went to the range on Friday to get in a little swing practice and to practice my badly neglected shortgame and putting. It was very windy here, so I thought I'd do a little practice on my punch shot and hitting, which I'd been struggling with to this point. I should mention that a couple of plane concepts had clicked recently and this was the first time I seriously tried hitting since. The hit felt so good and easy I used it the next day for everything but driver and putting (I may switch for this if I can get some feel for distance). Other than distance, my wedge game was better than ever. All things considered, I had a pretty good round for me.

As the round progressed, I started getting more comfortable with the swing and my right hand grip started slipping a little too strong; I started to pull some of my shots. By Sunday it became a bad pull...Monday it turned into the shanks and I was switting searching for that feeling I had on Fri/Sat....I was not in a good mood...until today - fixed my grip and things are better, but confidence is a bit shaken. Two rounds of golf scheduled for this weekend, and I can't wait!

Isn't it great when things just work I will prolly also get worse and search for the feeling I had that first day for a little while, but I think it'll be worth the wait.

It was also a very windy day for me... I was Hitting everything but driver and putter... and on the back I hit a few pulls... If i shank it next time out I'll be very very scared

The shanks tick me off more than than scare me...just makes me want to hit more balls. I was only shanking it when I was compensating for the pull caused by...I think...my strong grip and "trying" not to shank . We'll see if it sticks; the pulls were long, straight, and playable if I had to.

FYI...it was a combination of a sway and too strong a right hand grip for me.
